Programmer. Robot builder. Maker of things that shouldn't work.
Webuntu
apt install. Compiled to WebAssembly and restored from a snapshot, so it boots in seconds. Nobody asked for it. Everyone should try it.A real 64-bit PC, emulated instruction by instruction.
Ubuntu LTS. The actual one. Unmodified.
QEMU, compiled to WebAssembly.
Things to install. It's just a tab.
How it works
An unmodified Ubuntu 22.04 disk image. The same operating system you'd install on a PC.
QEMU emulates a complete 64-bit x86 computer: processor, memory, disks and display.
The entire emulator runs as WebAssembly, so your browser becomes the computer.
It restores from a pre-booted snapshot, so you land at a live shell in seconds instead of waiting for a cold boot.
Webuntu
Starts from a snapshot of an already-booted system, so you're at a live shell before you could have found the installer.
bash, apt, Python and a real filesystem. Do Linux things, for real.
Everything runs in your browser. Networking stays off until you turn it on.
Name an instance and its whole disk comes back on your next visit.
DNS, TCP and HTTPS through a WebSocket relay. One toggle away.
A scratchpad, a project box, something to break. Each one independent.
Everything else
Build a leaf. Gear it up. Watch nature win anyway. A cozy pixel-art game made in Godot.

github.com/ethandacat ↗I write code for fun, lead programming for an FTC robotics team, and build websites for real businesses. Mostly, I like doing things in a browser that people say can't be done in a browser.
Every season brings a brand new game. It starts with a whiteboard, a lot of arguing, and a robot that only exists as lines.
Metal, motors, wheels and wiring. The lines become a machine that actually weighs something.
That's my part. As lead programmer for team #23562, I write the code that drives it, moves the arm and runs the autonomous period on its own.
Head-to-head matches against teams from across Hawaii. In three seasons Robo-Techs Hawaii went from new team to the top of the circuit.
FIRST Tech Challenge · Team #23562
Lead programmer for Robo-Techs Hawaii. We design, build and program robots that compete head-to-head. In three seasons we went from new team to the top of the Hawaii circuit.
Toolbox
From robot code to WebAssembly emulators to self-hosted mail. Pick the right tool, then make it do something it wasn't built for.
